Edutechment: FUOYE honours Nigerian Artists

The Edutechment programme held at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti was a prestigious event that honored esteemed educators and renowned Nollywood artists with awards.

This event was part of the week-long activities for the 9th Convocation ceremony at the rapidly growing Federal University Oye-Ekiti. It featured prominent figures from the Nigerian entertainment industry, including Femi Adebayo, Pa Peter Fatomilola, Toyin Adegbola, Dele Odule, King Dr. Saheed Osupa, Muyideen Oladapo, Peju Ogunmola, among many others.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, opened the event with a warm welcome to all attendees and expressed gratitude to the guests for accepting the invitation.

He defined “Edutechment” as a blend of Education, Technology, and Entertainment.

In her address, the Director of the Advancement Centre, Professor Olubukola Oyawoye, welcomed the invited guests and participants to this groundbreaking event.

She explained that the purpose of the programme is to inspire students to explore the intersection of technology and education, and to develop innovative solutions to real-world problems.

Professor Oyawoye further stated that the Edutechment programme was organized to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in an increasingly technology- and entertainment-driven world.

Speaking at the event, Nigerian Nollywood star, Dele Odule expressed his appreciation to the university management for organizing such a meaningful event.

He also made a generous commitment to provide a scholarship of 50,000 Naira each year to the best student in the Theatre Arts department for the next 10 years, showcasing his support and dedication to education and the arts.

Also, Femi Adebayo appreciated the Management of the institution for organising the programme.

Meanwhile, King Dr Saheed Osupa also extended his appreciation to the university and urged the students to be more serious in their studies

Other prominent Nigerians at the event Viz; Commissioner of Art and Culture, Ekiti State, and FUOYE Don, Professor Ojo Rasaki Bakare, Commissioner for Youth, Ekiti state, Mr. Seun Fakuade among others were also awarded at the epoch event
