The Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the upgrade and conversion of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo to a University of Agriculture and Agribusiness.
Announcing the conversion of the school to University of Agriculture and Agribusiness on his assumption of office after inauguration, Governor Aiyedatiwa said the school will be the model for the agric and food security revolution initiative of the state government.
The Governor added that a committee will be set up by the government to work out the modalities for the implementation of the conversion while assuring that this will not have any negative effects on the current students and staff of the institution.
The Federal University of Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) recently hosted the EDUTECHMENT event, an initiative aimed at inspiring students and promoting innovation in education. The programme had in attendance the students in their large numbers and members of staff who had come to see the artists in real life performance.

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the presence of two Nollywood icons: Toyin Adegbola and Peju Ogunmola. The veteran actresses, known for their captivating performances on screen, were in attendance to inspire and motivate the students. Toyin Adegbola and Peju Ogunmola’s presence at the event was met with excitement and admiration from the students, who were thrilled to see their screen idols up close.

The National Executive Council (NEC) has trained it members at the Federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Nigeria

Oguntoyinbo Damilare Joshua has been named the winner of the Dele Odule Prize for the best-graduating student in the Department of Theatre and Media Arts, Federal University of Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE).
Graduating with an impressive Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.65, Oguntoyinbo received this award in recognition of his outstanding academic achievements and his contributions to the department.
The momentous announcement was made by the renowned Nigerian actor and President of the Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Dele Odule, during the groundbreaking EDUTECHMENT ceremony organized by Directorate of Advancement at the University.
The EDUTECHMENT ceremony aimed to inspire students and promote innovation in education. It was a resounding success, featuring notable personalities, including Nollywood icons Toyin Adegbola and Peju Ogunmola.

Professor Oyawoye took the Council Members University staff and other dignitaries on a Faculty tour around the building to show them the facilities within the Building ” The center is solar-powered, providing a sustainable source of energy, and features air-conditioned facilities and kitchen amenities, making it an ideal venue for conferences, workshops, and other events
There are some other laudable projects which would be named after the past vice chancellors of this great university. She added.
This project is at no cost to the university. The project is from endowment and fundraising from individuals within and outside the University adding that the vice chancellor Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina contributed immensely from his personal purse
She went on: “Advancement Center headed by myself, and we raised a project called an endowment. One of the help that came was from our father, Retired DIG Adeoye Adedayo, who has been giving out millions of naira as scholarships to indigent students of this University.”

FUOYE Staff Cooperative society AGM holds Thursday

Staff cooperative and Multipurpose Society of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, Nigeria will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the Main Auditorium of the university.
This was disclosed by its President, Mr Kehinde Adebayo.
The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) has expelled a student named Goddy Mbakwe Chiamaka Precious, a 300-Level student from the Department of History and International Studies over assault on one of her Lecturers.
According to a statement released by the university’s management, the student was found guilty of physically assaulting Mr Chukwudi Micheal Okoye, a Lecturer in the department of Theater and Films Studies.
The incident which occurred on 12th February 2024 was investigated by the University’s Disciplinary Committee, which then recommended that the student be expelled.
The University Management accepted the recommendation, citing the need to maintain discipline and decorum on campus.

On monday 10th of February2025, a lawal hafsoh yetunde went missing. According to reports, she was attending a naming ceremony when she received a call from a friend. She dropped her food to answer the call and then left. Since then, we’ve been searching for her everywhere, but no one knew her whereabouts.
“On Tuesday, her parents reported the case to the Oja Oba Police Station in Ilorin. The police requested her phone number and used it to track her last call. The call was traced to an individual living in Ofa garage distinct area of Ilorin, although his family house is in Isalekuto.
“The suspect was arrested, but initially denied knowledge of the lady’s whereabouts. However, when the police searched his house, he confessed that the lady was in his area and had died from an asthma attack after he called her to come over.
“Upon further investigation, the police found the lady’s body, dismembered and hidden in a bowl, along with the equipment used to dismember her. The suspect is now at the police headquarters in Ilorin.
“I commend the Kwara State Police Command, Ojo oba, for the excellent job they’ve done in solving this case.
The deceased lady was a final year student of the Kwara State College of Education in Ilorin, According to the suspect, they met on Facebook, where he obtained her phone number. He then called her, inviting her to come over.
“Disturbingly, evidence found in the suspect’s house suggests this may not be his first offense. A table in his room appeared to be equipped with tools used to dismember bodies.
“The case is currently under investigation at the Kwara State Police Headquarters. As more information becomes available, I will provide updates, including pictorial and video evidence. In due time, I will share pictures of the suspect and other relevant evidence.
Interestingly, the suspect who committed the heinous crime is reportedly the son of a well-known cleric from Isalekoto, Ilorin. His father, a prominent figure in the community, had recently passed away. I will provide more details about the suspect and his family, including his father’s name, in subsequent updates.
